What is Generalized Anxiety Disorder?

GAD involves persistent, excessive worry that shifts from topic to topic — work, health, relationships, finances — and feels impossible to control. You might know the worry is out of proportion, but that doesn’t make it stop. Over time it takes a real toll on your energy, sleep, and quality of life.

What It Can Look Like

  • Your mind jumps from one worry to the next and you can't seem to turn it off
  • You feel restless, on edge, or wound up much of the time
  • Your body carries the stress — tight muscles, headaches, trouble sleeping
  • You feel tired even when you haven't done much
  • Small things set you off more than they should

How I Can Help

I use CBT and ACT to help you build practical skills for responding to worry differently. An important part of treating GAD is learning how to respond to worries without worrying — worries come and go on their own, while worrying is more of a mental behavior.
