Fees & Insurance
I want to make it easy to understand what therapy will cost. This page covers what I charge, how insurance works, and what to expect when you get started.
Insurance
I’m in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). Your specific copay, coinsurance, or deductible will depend on your plan.
Benefits verification through Willow Grove. Willow Grove’s billing specialist runs a benefits check before your intake session to confirm your coverage and out-of-pocket costs. This gives you a clearer picture of what to expect financially before treatment begins.
If you’d like to confirm your insurance coverage before requesting an appointment, here’s what you can ask your insurer when you call the member services number on the back of your card:
- Is outpatient mental health covered under my plan?
- What is my copay or coinsurance for an in-network psychologist?
- Do I have a high-deductible plan? If so, am I responsible for paying the full session rate out of pocket until my deductible is met?
- Have I met my deductible for the year?
- Do I need a referral or preauthorization?
If you’re insured through a different carrier, I’m considered an out-of-network provider. Many PPO plans include out-of-network mental health benefits, and I’m happy to provide a superbill — an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement.
Self-Pay Rates
For clients paying out of pocket, my rates are:
- Initial intake session: $275
- 60-minute individual session: $250
- 45-minute individual session: $190
- 30-minute individual session: $140
Most clients meet for 60-minute sessions, which is my standard session length. Some clients find that 45-minute sessions work well for their needs, and I collaborate with each client to determine what fits best.
30-minute sessions are less common and generally not sufficient for most work. However, they can be appropriate in specific circumstances — for example, after initial treatment goals have been met, for periodic “booster” sessions, or when a client has demonstrated proficiency in independently applying the tools we’ve developed together.
Good Faith Estimate
Under the federal No Surprises Act, self-pay clients are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before beginning treatment. I provide this in writing at the start of care.
Free 15-Minute Consultation
If you’d like to talk before scheduling an intake, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to prospective clients. This is a chance to describe what you’re looking for, ask questions about my approach, and see if we’re a good fit before committing to an intake session.
Payment
I accept credit and debit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if my insurance isn’t BCBS?
I can provide a superbill after each session, which you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Reimbursement rates vary widely by plan. Before starting, call your insurance and ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits.
What’s a superbill?
A superbill is an itemized receipt with the diagnostic and procedure codes your insurance needs to process an out-of-network claim. You submit it directly to your insurance, and any reimbursement is paid to you.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes — a free 15-minute phone consultation is available for prospective clients. Request one when you reach out.
